Heating technology

Choosing the right heating equipment is essential and it can be a challenging, complicated decision. We’ll work with you to understand your needs – whether you have a large family to get showered in the morning, or an elderly relative to keep cosy and warm.

Our advice is based on two main principles:

Efficiency – making the best possible use of energy from whichever source is appropriate

Efficacy – ensuring that there is always enough energy available to stay comfortable

Hybrid systems with multiple heat inputs

Combining several heat sources to acheive high levels of efficiency whilst ensuring that the system is effective and reliable.

Oil boilers

Standard, easily available fuel and so a very popular choice. They offer a reliable and efficient heating solution, with modern condensing oil boilers achieving over 90% efficiency.

Heat pumps

Machines that extract heat from the ground or air and pump it into the home. They offer a greener, more efficient way to heat homes, contributing to lower carbon emissions and potentially saving money on energy bills. They are becoming increasingly popular as a replacement for traditional gas boilers, particularly with government support and the phasing out of fossil fuels.

Biomass boilers

Boilers that burn wood to produce heat with reduced carbon emissions. They can be a cost effective solution for those not connected to mains gas, and are often eligible for government incentives like the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

Solar panels

Usually roof-mounted panels, which collect the sun’s heat to produce hot water. The UK averages around 1,500 hours of sunshine annually which is enough for effective solar power generation.

Control

Installing the right controls allows you to precisely control the heating, ensuring it only operates when and where needed, maximising efficiency and minimising waste.
